Idea Series - Recipes with Sesame

Lots of times, I have a pantry ingredient at hand which I want to use. Maybe the ingredient is nearing its best-before date, or maybe I just want to try it out! Sometimes I order an ingredient after watching some recipe video, and by the time the delivery arrives, I have forgotten about the recipe, and now don't know what to do!

In this Idea series, I am going by ingredients, instead of dishes - and will list some recipes which I can use for the ingredient. Hope this is useful!

Of course, the most famous sesame recipe is Tahini. But I have been using sesame in a variety of other ways too -

  • Topping on anything cooked in Chinese style
  • Add to papdi/crackers dough
  • Add to tikki dough

Tahini

When we talk about sesame, tahini is the obvious thing that comes to mind. So far, I have made tahini using only sesame seeds, but came across some recipe ideas which uses more seeds - I am planning to try this at the earliest.

Typical tahini uses Sesame seeds, EVOO and salt. That's it!

A nice recipe on themediterraneandish.com uses the following ingredients:

  • 1-2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup tahini paste - using sesame seeds, EVOO and salt
  • 1/2 cup lemon/lime juice
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 cup chopped parsley leaves
But I want to modify it, and also try to add sunflower, poppy, and pumpkin seeds.
