Idea Series - What to serve with avocado/guac?

Lots of times, I have a pantry ingredient at hand which I want to use. Maybe the ingredient is nearing its best-before date, or maybe I just want to try it out! Sometimes I order an ingredient after watching some recipe video, and by the time the delivery arrives, I have forgotten about the recipe, and now don't know what to do!

In this Idea series, I am going by ingredients, instead of dishes - and will list some recipes which I can use for the ingredient. Hope this is useful!

It's my usual challenge - bought some amazing avocados, now am making a guac, what to pair it with?

Of course, there are plenty of gluten-free and regular crisps/crackers available in market now. And there is always toast. But if I want to go home-made and preferably gluten-free, here are some ideas:

For better organization, I have moved the millet-based snacks to:

Whole wheat puri/papdi (for cheat days)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • bhuna jeera
  • salt, pepper, chilli, hing powder, haldi
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/4 cup besan - planning to try this, not present in original recipe
  • fresh chopped methi leaves - I have dill leaves right now so will try the recipe with them and update
Mix the above and knead the dough, add just enough water for a stiff dough.

Divide into 24 portions.

Roll a small circle - prick it evenly with a fork.

Grease a baking tray and bake at 180 degrees for 16 minutes. Flip once after 8 minutes.

Update: All changes worked spectacularly. I have realized that I used to consider making such papdi's, especially for baking, very precise Science, but it is very easy. I have even used left-over parantha dough to bake small puri's in oven, and they have come out pretty good.
